Our History
House of Color was formally known as Myers House of Color. Myers House of Color was founded in 1963 by the Myers family and would remain under that name until January 2000. Along with flooring, Myers House of Color also sold paint, window treatments, and wall paper. Myers House of Color had a very prestigious reputation for quality and customer service.
To build upon this reputation, they hired Sharon Miles in 1990 to head up their small flooring department. She had previous flooring industry experience managing other flooring stores and would be a valuable asset to the Myers family and their store. Sharon continued to work for Myers House of Color until January 2000. Recognizing the potential of the flooring business, she purchased the company from the Myers family and changed the name to House of Color. The paint, window treatments and wall paper divisions were then dissolved.
The original location of the store was on Tiffin Avenue. It was then moved behind the Findlay Village Mall in the Croy Drive strip mall. After the Sharon purchased the company, House of Color would remain in that location for one year. With the business continuously growing, that facility was not providing the space required. The business was moved to 406 Walnut Street, where it would remain until October of 2010.
House of Color would eventually run out of showroom and warehouse space at the Walnut Street location. We purchased the current location in May of 2010 at 523 E. Bigelow Avenue in Findlay, Ohio. After undergoing extensive renovations on the nearly 10,000 square foot facility, we celebrated our grand opening of the new facility on October 8th, 2010.
